We can be Heroes…

Posted by in blog August 14, 2012

So said the Thin White Duke David Bowie and now the latest piece of thought leadership by our very lovely friends Down Under, the most excellent Republic of Everyone, aims to shout out that iconic phrase as a challenge to business.

We’ve been knocking about with the boys and girls at Republic for sometime now, we’ve even done a joint Masterclass series together in Sydney. And with this ‘Hero’s Handbook – the How-To-Guide to Becoming a Hero Brand’, they’ve come up with something really rather cool.

Executed in their trademark style of punchy graphics, pithy quotes and provocative prose the freely available guide challenges business to step-up and play the sustainability game with feverish passion, not limp reluctance. It offers up the tangible, quantifiable evidence that this actually results in better business and perhaps most importantly it outlines a few neat and simple steps businesses can take to begin and extend their sustainability journey.

Not bad for a 29 page book eh?! ‘Brevity is next to Godliness’ as we always say, and the Hero’s Handbook makes every word work hard till it’s sweating and pummelling the canvas for mercy. Using case studies from their own work and beyond, including clients we both share such as Unilever, Republic have neatly set-out a creative, clearly understandable and credible guide to changing the business world. I thoroughly recommend it. We can all be Heroes, but sorry David, not just for one day…unravelling the corporate sustainability knot is going to take a little longer than that!
