This isn’t just any old Talent Programme… it’s Futerra’s sizzling Talent Programme!

Posted by in blog April 30, 2012

We are excited to announce that we are taking a new approach to the way we recruit fresh young talent at Futerra. Each year we will now have two fully paid entry-level positions that will last for 12 months.

There’s been a lot of controversy in the media in these austere times about the ethics of unpaid or expenses-only style internships. At Futerra we have always been extremely proud of our intern programme. Over two-thirds of our employees are themselves former interns, including loyal and successful staff who have been with us for many years and are now crucial and valued members of our senior team.

We have looked after, invested in and valued the contributions of our interns pretty well we think. But we recognize times are changing and we wanted to respond to that and offer a fair wage and formal personal and professional development opportunity to those with emerging sustainability communications flair.

So we’re replacing our Internship programme with ‘The Futerra Talent Programme’. You can think of it as Futerra’s Internship 2.0 and we believe it will be the perfect platform for bright, young minds looking to start a career in sustainability communications.

You may have noticed we recently advertised for a Creative Assistant and Account Executive to kick start our first programme. We are pleased to say we have now recruited two great candidates that will begin in the next few weeks, splitting their time evenly between our client and communications teams.

We believe that to make sustainable development so desirable it becomes normal there needs to be lots of talented people working to make it happen. That means giving people with aptitude and potential the opportunity to build their knowledge and develop their craft.

At Futerra we like to nurture great talent and bring the best out of the people that work for us. Of course we all work hard but we make sure we take time out to celebrate, enjoy what we do and who we do it with. After all ‘Joy’ is one of our KPIs!

There are also some nice perks to the job such as drinks on the roof terrace (yes we have a roof terrace – called of course ‘The Futerrace’), health insurance, massages, slow travel rewards, a bike scheme, or simply Ed’s delicious home cooking. It’s a pretty long list but that’s the way we like it.

So if you like the sound of what you are hearing be sure to keep an eye on our website for more information. The next round of applications will be taking place in April 2013 so make sure you apply at the right time.

(Note: We no longer take on speculative internships. We will occasionally take on interns under special circumstances and only if the internship is an official part of an organised academic course. More information is coming soon so keep an eye on our website)
