Annoying Acronyms

Acronyms, they were meant to be handy little letters that saved time and made things simpler. So how did it all get so complicated? I saw the Iron Man recently and there was this running joke that did make me smirk about the name for a secret service agency.

Having dealt with a varity of FYI, SEOs, AOBs and CTRs recently it did make me think.. why do these tiny letters end up creating a special club that only certain people get. For example look up CSR on the internet and you get a around 18,000,000 different entries, not all of which stand for CSR as we know it. Then there's true sustainability - we have our code of acroynms which mean that only those truly in the know get it.

Is it just me or do you think we should start speaking plainly to communicate sustainability effectively?

Anyhow FYI I'm off home now and I'm sure I'll experience another of those BOGOFs moments where I have to explain at the till why I really don't want the free 'whatever' and I get a bizzare stare of disbelief, which basically means BOG-OFF! Lets hope that WRAP's report today on food we waste helps change some attitudes. I guess I can always hand my freebie out to unsuspecting people on the tube... I mean that wouldn't be odd in London would it? LOL .. ah now I even I can't escape the witty GSOH repartie.

If you feel the same remember there are sites for fellow acronymn haters, it's called IHA... no really it is.. check it out of you don't believe me.
