What a load of rubbish!

Posted by: Alistair Macdonald

This video is shocking! Some of us have heard the rumours of the Eastern Garbage Patch - a floating island of discarded plastic items which is bigger than Texas. Until now I had not seen any real evidence of this, apparently as most items are transparent and float just under the surface of the ocean - it is not very visible from satellite, I have heard of Google Earth picking it up though.

So even more spurred on to ditch the plastic from our lives I am starting with the immediate cessation of my kids treats, their Saturday magazines that cost a fortune and ALWAYS carry a disgraceful excuse of a toy on the cover which is in fact nothing more than a great big disappointment composed of lurid plastic that breaks within seconds of being played with...soudns a bit harsh making the kids do without but the plain truth is they won't notice any difference and will continue to find more joy from a stick or a stone than a plastic atrocity....
