2012: Fierce Sustainability

Posted by in blog January 4, 2012

2012 will be the Year of the Dragon.

Is this auspicious for sustainability? A quick trawl of Chinese zodiac sites tells me:

The dragon is a symbol of power, strength and good luck

The year will be characterised by excitement, unpredictability, exhilaration and intensity

Chinese dragons traditionally symbolize potent and auspicious powers, particularly control over water, rainfall, hurricane, and floods (!)

Good signs for a calendar of post Kyoto negotiations, the Rio Earth Summit, the UN Year of Sustainable Energy for All, and the Olympics “Greenest Games Ever”.

So buckle up folks, let’s get going for the ride.

2012: Year of Fierce Sustainability.
