Happy International Day of Biodiversity, in 60 seconds
Posted by laurie in blog May 23, 2011Yesterday was the International Day of Biodiversity. To celebrate, here’s the last 12 months of biodiversity excitement as seen through the Futerra lens. Let us know what we’ve missed out!
This time last year we were halfway through the International Year of Biodiversity, which brought the issues (and logo we designed) to the attention of millions of people all over the world. It even sponsored a football kit, a well in Tissington, and (embarrassingly) cruised at 37,000 feet. In Nagoya political big wigs stayed up late to agree to share the spoils of biodiversity in fairer and more sustainable ways. Business got in on the act too. With credit crunch came eco-crunch. The TEEB study pinned pounds to the planet, and brands noticed, putting biodiversity in the balance sheet, the shop window, and even on the roof. The new message for conservation is Love not Loss, the powerful mantra behind Branding Biodiversity. It’s about awe and wonder. If you don’t believe me, ask this tiny girl with a big snake and a huge vision.
